Physical Therapy & Pediatric OT for Du Quoin, IL
Synergy Therapeutic Group opened our first clinic in Du Quoin in 2004. For seventeen years, we were Du Quoin’s physical therapy and occupational therapy home — the people you came to when your back gave out, when your child needed help to grow, when nothing else had worked. In 2021 we consolidated operations to our Carbondale clinic. Many of you kept driving. Today, four years later, we still see Du Quoin patients every week — because the relationship didn’t end when the address changed.
If you’re new to Du Quoin or you’ve heard about us from a neighbor, this page is for you. If you’ve been with us since 2004, this page is also for you — thank you for staying.
Du Quoin Is Where Synergy Started
We are not a chain. We are not a satellite office of someone else. Synergy began as a single Du Quoin clinic in 2004, founded on the belief that chronic pain has a root cause — and that healing is possible even when other treatments have failed. For seventeen years, we put that philosophy to work in Du Quoin. We took on the cases other clinics gave up on. We built our reputation patient by patient.
When we consolidated to our Carbondale clinic in 2021, we made the move so we could offer more — a larger space, more services, more therapists, the room to add pediatric occupational therapy as a full program. The Carbondale location was 25 minutes south, but the philosophy stayed exactly the same.

Physical Therapy for Du Quoin Adults
The conditions we treat most often for Du Quoin patients are the same ones we have treated since 2004 — back pain, neck pain, chronic pain that hasn’t responded to standard care, post-surgical recovery, arthritis. Du Quoin’s coal mining and agricultural history shows up in our patient population: years of physical labor often translate to persistent back pain, hip and knee arthritis, shoulder problems. We know these patterns because we have been working with them for two decades.
- Chronic back pain and sciatica — failed back surgery, recurring lumbar issues, work-injury back pain
- Chronic neck pain — whiplash, cervical disc, tech neck
- Arthritis pain — hips, knees, hands, spine
- Fibromyalgia — widespread pain, fatigue, brain fog
- Shoulder pain — rotator cuff, frozen shoulder, post-surgical
- Chronic headaches and migraines
- Vertigo and dizziness — BPPV, vestibular dysfunction
- Post-surgical recovery — joint replacement, spine surgery, orthopedic rehab
Pediatric Occupational Therapy — New Since the Move
One of the reasons we consolidated to Carbondale in 2021 was to build out our pediatric occupational therapy program — something we couldn’t fully offer from our smaller Du Quoin space. Today, our pediatric OT program is led by Chandana Dash, OTR/L, and it is one of the most comprehensive pediatric OT practices in southern Illinois.
Du Quoin parents bring their children to us for:
- Sensory processing difficulties
- Autism spectrum support — sensory, motor planning, daily living
- Handwriting difficulties
- ADD and ADHD
- Developmental delays
- Fine motor delays
- Cerebral palsy
If your child needs pediatric OT support and you’re in Du Quoin, the 25-minute drive south is worth it. There simply aren’t comparable programs closer to home.
Insurance for Du Quoin Patients

Common Questions from Du Quoin Patients
Are you still open in Du Quoin?
Our Du Quoin clinic closed in 2021 when we consolidated operations to Carbondale. We now operate from a single location at 1110 N Cedar Court in Carbondale — about 25 minutes south of Du Quoin on Route 51. The team you worked with in Du Quoin is the same team you’ll see in Carbondale.
I was a patient when you were in Du Quoin. Do you still have my records?
Yes. All patient records came with us when we moved. If you’re coming back after time away, call us — we can pull your history before your first visit and pick up where we left off.
How long is the drive from Du Quoin to Carbondale?
About 25 minutes via Route 51 south. Free parking right at the front door. The drive is quiet — most patients tell us they get used to it within a couple of visits.
Do I need a physician referral?
Illinois has direct access — you can start physical therapy without a referral. Some insurance plans (Medicare, certain HMOs) require a referral for coverage, which we’ll verify before your first visit.
My pain has lasted years and other clinics haven’t helped. Can you?
This is exactly the kind of case we have specialized in since 2004. If chronic pain has lasted months or years and other treatments haven’t worked, the root cause has likely been missed. Our approach is to find it — the compensation patterns, the structural issues, the things other clinics didn’t look for. Pain doesn’t last for no reason. There is always a reason. We will find it.
