What was happening
Jeffrey was referred to Synergy for right groin discomfort. The groin is a complex region where the abdomen, hip, and pelvic floor converge — and discomfort there can come from any of those sources or from the way they coordinate (or fail to coordinate) under load.
Getting a referral specifically for that region means a physician recognized that PT was likely to address it more effectively than imaging-and-wait-it-out.
What other providers missed
Groin discomfort often gets a workup that focuses on potential structural causes — hernia, hip labrum, adductor strain — and stops there. What is often missed is the role of breathing mechanics and core coordination in producing or perpetuating groin symptoms.
The diaphragm, the deep abdominal wall, and the pelvic floor work together as a pressure system. When they are not coordinating well, the load goes to structures that were not designed to take it — including the soft tissues around the groin. Standard care that ignores this layer often produces partial results.
What we did differently
Our team treated Jeffrey’s discomfort with manual care and targeted exercise — and added the piece that matters longer-term: education in breathing mechanics and physical exercises to support overall wellness.
That education is durable. A patient who understands how their breath, core, and pelvic floor coordinate has tools they can use for the rest of their life. Symptoms are less likely to come back when the underlying mechanics are addressed and the patient knows how to maintain them.
The outcome
Jeffrey feels much better. He also understands how to use breathing and physical exercises to support his ongoing wellness.
The best PT outcomes include both the immediate relief and the lasting capability. Jeffrey got both.
